The cost of the waiver as of January 2025 is $700.
The form may be completed by certain medical professionals such as a Psychologist, Medical Doctors and Doctors of Osteopathy.
Individuals who have a physical or developmental disability, or a mental health condition, that makes it difficult or impossible for them to learn or demonstrate knowledge of English and U.S. history/government. These conditions must typically be long-term and significantly impact the person's ability to meet the naturalization test requirements.
The process typically includes a diagnostic interview where we discuss your history and the onset, duration, and impact of your condition on daily functioning.
In addition, we may use various standardized assessments such as the CTONI, COMT, TOMAL, HTQ, RUDAS and HSCL to help document cognitive or psychological limitations that support the N-648 waiver request.
